Hi All,

I just did an engine swap for a local Friend.
He wanted the new slant 6 installed with a super six.
He had all the proper parts for the swap.

Most of us are aware of the non compatibility between the 1 bbl kickdown linkage and the super six kickdown linkage..no question there.. they cannot swap.

My question is about the throttle valve arm/ lever on the valvebody on the trans..

Is the 1 bbl arm different from the super 6 throttle lever arm on the transmission?

Thanks!

Greg

Thanks Mavtv91,

The original poster of that topic is who I did the swap for.
It never occured to me to check the "D slot" angle in the arm.. I always thought it was just about the kickwoun linkage only.

Thanks for your help.

I should have some carbs for sale soon.
Be sure to check the for sale section it a while for them.

Hello-

I will post an update as soon as I am able to swap out to the correct throttle valve arm. Waiting for a new speedometer gear to arrive and will knock them both out at the same time.

With the incorrect arm the transmission simply isn’t shifting correctly—it’s in 3rd at 20 mph and the shifts are so soft you can’t distinguish them

Mavtv91- your photos and in the previous post was very helpful. I just wish I would have remembered when doing the swap….

Shoutout to Greg for all his help and being an amazing mechanic!

UPDATE:

Finally got the correct throttle arm installed yesterday and yes, this makes ALL the difference when doing the 2bbl conversion using the original factory linkage. It is essential. Transmission is worn, but shifts correctly now. Throttle/kickdown response is almost perfect.

Per matv91’s diagrams, the arm for the A904 is Mopar part# 3751551

Thanks to all

This begs another related question.
Does that lever need to be swapped out if doing a super 6 conversion and using a Lokar style cable for kickdown, or just when using original factory super 6 linkage?

I would think if you are using a Lokar it would not matter, but if using factory style parts yes it is definitely needed!
