was reading on oregon camshaft that they can repair damaged cams! have anyone done this or is it cheaper to just get a new cam?

When they ground my current cam onto the core I sent, they offered to repair the fuel pump lobe as it was worn. I elected not to have it done as I am running an electric fuel pump. I am uncertain that they can do anything about the oil pump/distributor drive gear.

Give Ken a call at OCG.

In your situation with the international shipping both ways it may be cheaper to get your cam ground on a core that they have in stock.

I believe the last cam I ordered from them was @ $160 on their new core. . I have had them repair the fuel pump lobe. $15 a few years ago.

When he did mine it wound up at $120 for his part of the bill ($80 regrind and $40 for the fuel pump lobe) plus about $60 for a set of new lifters and something like $45 shipping both ways
I was PISSED at the shipping cost and time it took. That wasn't his fault I know..... Cost me double what I was expecting, and took double the time I was quoted for it to get there.

Did Comp offer the case hardening to You after the 1st failure? Or were they unaware of it? Service is about $110usd, won't fix tappets made of taffey, but may prevent the lobes from getting wiped out.
