Dear Slant 6ers, (UPDATE: We can no longer get the right gaskets - order cancelled on 1/18/23)

A few of us have been discussing a group buy of the stout Aussie head gaskets. These are the Endurotec composite head gaskets and are 3.66" bore (yes, you read that right) and can withstand at least 12:1 compression. The fire ring is well out of the fire, even for big overbores and large valve side reliefs/pockets in the head. They compress to about 0.046" thickness give or take a few thousandths.

I do not have firm pricing yet, but it looks like it will be something like $45-55 per gasket + shipping within the US. I am not so interested in shipping gaskets to a bunch of different locations around the US, but I can do a few shipments of those (maybe to 4 different people/locations?) and give out the rest when I see folks in person (races, visits, etc).

Please state how many you would like by responding to this thread. If someone wants to take this over, I can give you info on how to do it. Probably it is easiest to do payment by Paypal or personal check. I have not gotten into Venmo or other methods yet, but could try...

Thanks and Slant on,

Lou

LIST OF PEOPLE AND NUMBERS:

2) Greg - 2
3) Killer6 - 4
4) Matt - 2
5) Tim - 1
6) Valleyant - 2
7) Dennis - 2
8 ) Doug Jackson and Grayson in NC - 6
9) Rodney - 1
10) Stan - 2
11) EC_CO - 2

That's 28 plus me (updated 1/10/23). I'll wait a bit longer, and call Precision to verify things and see if/when they can deal with this quantity.

I would take 2 Lou. We could probably hand mine off in person. I'll ask Ryan in he wants any.

I would want one, I'm in south Texas. Does anyone have a big bore engine on the street?

Plenty of people have run these gaskets on street cars. 2-3 of mine... Certainly people have run Slants with 0.104" overbore on the street, including me.

I am trying to wrap my head around that bore size.
3.66 is a .26 over bore.
That is a BIG number.
What drove the size on these gaskets?

No one would overbore that much. You want the fire ring out of the fire, and you can have larger valve pockets in the head and valve reliefs in the block, along with larger overbores.

I blew a head gasket with the turbo where the fire ring was hanging into the valve pocket area and was a sharp spot (wick) that overheated under boost with too much timing and heat.

Are these gaskets most appropriate for higher compression & turbo builds?

What is the reasonable compression ratio that the Fel Pro gasket starts to give problems?

Lou,
I would be interested in two of these but would have to do Postal Money Order. I'd have to figure out how to get them to SW Ohio but no rush. Thank you

Lou, put me down for a couple. No worries on shipping, we'll see each other sometime. Let me know when you need the money.

Thanks everyone. Looks like we have a decent number going.

Yes, boost and high CR Felpro is good to around 11:1 or maybe up to 12:1. This one can go to 13+, reportedly. I like it for the big bore mostly.

I have run this gasket on a 13.5:1 engine.

No issues.

I will take (2).

Let me know final price and I can work out pickup at a slanted outing - no need to ship.
(I could also pick up Killer6 (Jim's) Gaskets too if he is not in a rush to receive them)
