What is everyones preference to the best go to solid lifters? I need a set for my engine build and would like to know what everyone has good luck with. |

Any stock replacements will be fine or send your stock ones to Oregon Cam Grinding for resurfacing. |

Ditto on the regrind if you have them. Some slant lifters have a different length. Re using your original one will make sure your pushrod will fit. |

Interesting, I have never seen a different length lifter. Care to elaborate? Lou |

Should be the same as the solid lifter B / RB big block and 2G HEMI as well. Greg |

Slant-6 lifters of a type (solid or hydro) are all the same length. Which is probably why Slant-6 pushrods of a type (LG; RG-solid, RG-hydro) are also all the same length. The differences in (solid) lifters are: • Fully cylindrical, or necked down in the middle (interchangeable; the latter kind weighs less) • Made of real metal, properly processed and hardened so they last, in a country and by a company where quality is a thing…or made of GFL-grade chopped-and-formed political dissidents and unwanted girl-children in the People's Republic of Can Stamp Whatever Country Origin And Brand You Want by Ningbo Shenzhen Happy Fine Best Joy Shining Life Traffic Industrial Co Ltd. |

Thanks, Stan and all. Looks like the body is longer but a bet the socket-to-face is the same. I remember putting a cam in an old 383 of my buddy's back in 1990 or so. Almost no compression and we were too dumb to realize that and cranked away for hours. Killed several batteries and a starter or two. Turns out we had 440 pushrods or some other $hit that was too long. By the time we got the right PRs in there, the motor was toast. He also blasted the piston tops with carb cleaner and used wire brushes and all the junk went down beside the pistons. Learning experiences there... Lou |

Yea my first 440 was a 667 Magnum. Installed a Purple Shaft .509 and it spun with no compression. 66 and 67 push rods are different from 68 up. So new push rods from the local parts place and off it went. Still have the 440 if any one is interested. |

Hmm. My 69 Charger friend has been talking about building a new BB for his car, since he has a well worn 1970s 400 in there. If you feel like telling me a bit more about your 440, please send me a PM or text. I keep trying to talk him into building a Slant 6, but he hasn't taken the bait, even after riding in my supercharged car, the white 62, and the 34 Coupe, all of which run in the 13s or high 12s.
