Some of you know that I am no longer with Emerson Electric as the Manufacturing Engineering Manger, but have moved to Seal Company as their Manufacturing Manager. Seal Company based in Tulsa Ok manufactures seals, o-rings, and of course gaskets. I know the over bore head gasket is highly desirable and I’m already working on a design. Other than that, what gaskets does everyone need or want? I’m also already working on an improved valve cover gasket out of fiber reinforced rubber vs the crappy cork. Maybe pan rail gaskets that are better than cork. Seal Company does not do molded products yet, so the front and rear pan seals are not possible, Yet! What do you need? Slant or not. Not interested in reproducing multi layer head gaskets for V8s as there are plenty of suppliers out there, but other gaskets that just aren’t getting the job done? Any of you working for companies that need gaskets or o-rings, vulcanized o-rings, let me know. I’m not in sales but I can get you in touch with the sales department. Slanted43 |

If you can just get us the big bore gasket like we had from down under that would be great. Their design worked perfectly as far as I know. |

I have been trying to get reinforced rubber valve cover gaskets made for some time now. I have drawings if you need them. -Matt |

I knew you found a new job, but congratulations again. I would like a racers set, common to a tear down or cam change. Oil pump gasket, timing chain gasket, T Stat, and the VC Gasket. Thanks for thinking outside the box. |

Since I’m not familiar with the aluminum version, what exactly is different for the aluminum vs the iron head gasket, and what needs to be updated? Are there any OEM ones left?

Yes, but not a whole lot of them. They are costly and difficult to get hold of, but not (quite yet) impossible.

(sorry not slant related) An updated improved plenum gasket for the magnum engines. I occasionally see them in Victor Reinz, which are better than the fel pro or the over the dealer parts counter version. But Victor Reinz isn't hardly seen around me at least. Also a better small block timing cover gasket. On both of these fel pro and some OEM factory ones are a hard material, very thin with a raised bead (either orange/red or blue) that really doesn't seal very well. I've had to redo quite a few. Victor brand gaskets are a heavier type gasket, made out of more traditional looking gasket material which seals these much better. Since I have to rely on companies like rock auto anymore to get them from victor, I thought maybe you could possibly make something for these? |

I was going to vote for a one-piece oil pan gasket, but I see that's not an option yet. I've been thinking this would seal better if you didn't have four separate gaskets to join together. There's probably room for improvement with transmission oil pan gaskets too. |

Hi Jeff, Hope the new(ish) job is still going well for you. I'd say head gaskets are our biggest need. I would favor a MLS type like the custom ones that Ryan Covalt had made, as they can take about anything on an iron motor. I have one (with smaller bore size) on my ~200 HP aluminum engine and it is holding fine so far. Cheaper composite ones like the disco-ed Endurotec would be the other way to go. I know the green int/exh gaskets that Brian Droschak had made are also excellent, but perhaps some kind of ring seal type (on exh side) could be useful? The other big thing for me personally is a 2.25" or so 2-bolt exhaust flange gasket that will not burn out under turbo heat. Even with stainless ring type gaskets, I seem to have had to replace those about every 5-10k miles (plus maybe 50 drag passes and plenty of street beatings including top end pulls). The SCE copper ones faded much quicker. I imagine there's something better out there, or could be. Thanks and happy to chat more, Lou |
