Help,

I’ve got a 1966 VC valiant.
I’m currently having issues with the engine fluttering and jolting slightly to the point I feels like it’s going to stall when I’m driving it.
It happens once Ive slowed down from driving on the high way,
It’s only starts to occur when the engine is warm. Driving for around 30 minutes. It’s not over heating. Temp looks normal.

What’s been done recently:
Shaved head and mostly rebuilt the head (compression are sitting high) after I blew the head gasket. (On the way home from buying it)
Had the radiator all cleaned out.
New distributor and cap
New spark plugs
New spark plug leads
All new gaskets
New water pump and all hoses
Carb and timing all tuned
New thermostat
Served transmission
Oil change and filter

I put 98 in it and valve lubricant when I fill up

I’m just at a loss as to what is going on.
Would really appreciate some insight and see if anyone can assist or suggest something that I’ve not considered?

Thank you
Rachal

The first thing I would try is to carefully adjust the valve lash. Maybe go 0.012/0.022" instead of the factory 0.010/0.020" spec. This sounds like classic tight valve symptoms, and this can happen on a fresh head/valvejob as the valves wear in.

Best of luck!
Lou
