New member.i apologize in advan.unfamiliar with how to navigate and/or post. Couldn't find a thread about rear main crank seal so I saw new post . If anyone can help I sure would b grateful. Have 1985d100 custom 2w.d. auto. Can not find the 2piece crank seal anywhere the dealership gave me a part number no help online there are ones for d150 V6 or V8 etc. Called everywhere searching online for days. Napa has one listed for w100 suggesting it's the same. I don't want to assume anything while lying on the ground w transmission on my motorcycle jack. Pls help |

I just got an email from rock auto as I've bought parts for my 85 truck from there, with a heads up to "clearance" parts, and one of the things that was included in their list of parts on clearance was a /6 rear main seal.... I don't need one right now, actually have an extra or 2 already. Once you buy from them they occasionally send you notices of parts they have on clearance vehicles that you have bought stuff from them for, in the past. |

If you want one that's easier to make not-leak, there's this (which, yes, also fits big block V8s). Like any oil seal, it has to be installed rightside-in. I'd put the installation split at 12:00 with a small dab of RTV. |

Cool item, Dan. Yes, you can use the BB Mopar part number/seal too. Lou |

Also, if you're wondering how to remove an original rope seal without removing the crank: Use one of these. |

The last few seals I purchased, came with the "Main" seal and the side seals for both the slant six, and the big block in the same package. Anyone need some extra big block side seals? |

I have also used drywall screws for my version of the sneaky pete tool for just a few cents. Worked fine on my 318's |
