Hey Can you look for the data plate ( not the sticker in the door jamb, if the option sticker is still on the hood and readable it MIGHT be on there and see if you can get me the paint code off of that? I have a project underway and that's real close to what I'm thinking of painting mine.. One is in the cowl area under the louvered panel behind the back edge of the hood, and I think some had one at the back end of the floor pan where it meets the back cab wall. Or if anyone else here happens to "know" it that would be great as well. $450 just in labor to swap over from lean burn? I guess I am out of touch on current pricing |

Volaredon: Forest green poly. PPG number 45817. Mr.6- $450 in labor to convert a lean burn vehicle to standard carburetor and ignition is robbery. By far the most expensive part of that conversion is parts. You need a late 70s non-lean burn system Holley 1945 carburetor, a slant six electronic ignition distributor, a GM HEI module, a standard relay, some wire, and some crimp on connectors. The stock wiring harness does not nee to be modified in any way. Remove the factory negative lead from the coil. Wire the HEI + and - to the coil + and - (or, if you are using a relay, wire that into the HEI + feed). Run the two reluctor leads to the distributor. Install the non lean burn carn and distributor. Done. Very simple. A mechanic that knows what they are doing can accomplish all of this in well under an hour. |

Cool. Thanks for that info. Hell yeah $450 is more than highway robbery... Even if you find someplace to "have"it done (If that's even possible these days because there's still gonna be no port for plugging in a scanner haha) |

Dis you ever get anywhere with this? I have an 85 /6 D150 as well, that has been unfortunately collecting dust, and an 83 D250 that's getting a frame off rebuild that I won't say "too much" about here because its getting a V8 and NV 4500 for camper tow duty. That's the truck I asked for paint code info for . The frame is blasted and painted, the cab, bed, doors and fenders are in body shop jail as of a couple of weeks ago. The sandblaster guy didn't do the job as he told me he was going to (dustless blast system) and ruined at least my bird bath hood that I was wanting to put on .. if not more. |
