Not sure if this is not allowed, but if it's OK, here's a link to the auction for Doris. You guys saw it here first. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1960- ... h-valiant/ |

Good ol BaT; full o' laffs like independent front suspension (Well, I should jolly well hope so!) and The chrome wraparound bumpers have been fitted with guards (makes them sound aftermarket, which they aren't), and an overhaul in 2014 that included the installation of a Carter one-barrel carburetor (…the kind of carburetor the car was built with…). BaT gonna BaT! Good luck with the sale; that's a worthy car. |

Thanks Dan! I know, right? The editorial is funny. Gotta roll with it, and get her on to her new home. I've done all I can! |

Is the high drivers side alternator a 1960 thing? |

Alternator was low on the driver side unless the car had power steering, then it's high on the driver side, with a special thermostat housing 2121 908 as part of the alternator support: Attachment:

I did a search for the housing and found that a few years ago. Never seen the other bracket. Power Steering deal? |

Yes, the high drivers side alternator is as Dan said, a 1960 thing on a slant six car specifically equipped with power steering, extra long head studs going through a special cast aluminum thermostat housing, with a triangular bracket for rigidity. For 60 Valiants, only 8% of them had power steering, so it's an uncommon housing/bracket. In '61 Chrysler changed the sheet metal in the engine bay to allow the alt to be mounted in the typical place on the passenger side. |
