My truck is 'cherry' has been in storage for 30 years....A REAL BARN QUEEN. I had the head redone and put a little lump in the cam. i decided to rebuild the bottom end while it was down. The engine has close to 900 miles on it after rebuild. I had the seat redone. The glass and interior are excellent. Rubber is All Terrain BF Goodrich new when stored on blocks. Started periodically.... always catches on second crank. Brakes are new; all accessories work. The body is excellent; it's a little shorty midnight blue. The clutch is solid, no chattering, smooth shifts. When I bought the truck new I had it 'rust check' sprayed each year, drove it in the spring till fall, put it away for the winter. Got a couple of other trucks that were automatics that my wife liked driving and put the dodge away. It came equipped with regular rubber and wheels; I replaced those with Keystone turbine rims as Mopar used to have turbine rims on their trucks back then. I have been collecting parts to make a 'super six' 225. I have a 2 barrel carb and 2 barrel intake. I am thinking of installing a set of Dutra duels and twin exhausts. 1. Will the modifications mentioned, will I gain any noticeable improvement in performance or increase in horsepower? 2.If I sell will the 4 speed stick lower the price? Questions from Dodgeball, Thanks If you have any advice or comments please let me know. |

You mentioned an upgraded cam. Just how much cam are you running? A stock slant six will see a HP gain from the Super Six already, but if you get aggressive with the cam you may want to go bigger on the carb. I'd keep it four speed. The only transmission option that might drag down resale value is a three speed manual, and even then, it's not going to be a huge penalty. |

Those years "3 speed overdrive" were 4 speeds The "3 speed overdrive" were a 3 speed trans with an add on extra gearbox And value would depend on who's looking. To me a stick over an auto would be preferred. But not to all. Were you thinking of selling? Otherwise "value" really doesn't matter much |

A super six will add 10 ish hp and it is a noticeable improvement. Dutras would help also, but no need for 2 pipes on a mild build. I'd much prefer the OD manual to the auto. But I'm driving and auto right now! ![]() ![]() |

Those years "3 speed overdrive" were 4 speeds Yes. Chrysler's official (dumb, clunky) term was "3-speed with overdrive".Quote: The "3 speed overdrive" were a 3 speed trans with an add on extra gearbox We're talking about the A833OD transmission here. It's a 4-speed, with overdrive 4th, all in the one transmission housing. There is no add-on extra gearbox like the Laycock de Normanville items factory-installed in (among others) '60s-'80s Volvos with 4-speed transmissions, giving a total of 5 speeds.Quote: Were you thinking of selling? Otherwise "value" really doesn't matter much
I'd go further than that: "value" doesn't really matter much whether or not OP is thinking of selling. Even the most minty-fresh '87 D100 is not going to be an investment-type item for a long, long time yet, if ever. OP should configure it as they see fit, then drive it and enjoy it.

I had the head redone and put a little lump in the cam. Specs, please. What exact, specific camshaft did you buy and install? Quote: I have been collecting parts to make a 'super six' 225. I have a 2 barrel carb What exact carb?Quote: thinking of installing a set of Dutra duels and twin exhausts.
See here Quote: Will the modifications mentioned, will I gain any noticeable improvement in performance Yes, but the devil's in the details; hence the need for exact info on the cam and carb. Quote: If I sell will the 4 speed stick lower the price? Nobody's going to come with "Oooooh, gosh, gee, if only it had [other kind of transmission] it'd be worth $35,000, but with that 4-speed all I can offer you is $850" or anything like that.Questions from Dodgeball, Thanks If you have any advice or comments please let me know.
