I am currently giving my D100 the HEI ignition upgrade and cleaning up the 50 years of hacked wiring under the hood.

I do not have a 1975 specific service manual or wiring diagram but have figured out almost everything I need to remove/change/replace in order to perform the upgrade.

I am stuck at this connector going into a cover on the speedometer cable. It is not listed on my wiring diagram.

The yellow wire goes to another connector that has never been connected to anything since I have owned the truck. And the dark green wires went to the Electronic ignition.

What is it? Do I need it? And if I need it, where does it get connected?

Thanks in advance
Dennis

If everything else works, you don't need it! :D :D Maybe something for cruise control?? My FSM doesn't go back that far.

Just a wild guess, without looking up anything. The timer/counter for the check emissions light. Not sure if that was a feature on that year/model.

Thanks for the responses. The emissions counter make sense. The engine has been replaced. Which explains some of the wiring nightmare.

Plus 50 year old wire can be pretty brittle.
