Car Model: Dodge Dart Sport
Hey guys! I’m trying to do a mildish performance slant six build, as when I swap my 360 into my dart sport, i don’t want the slant to go to waste so I would like build my slant and find another small car to drop it into and see how much power I can squeeze out of it. I have a 2 barrel Stromberg off of a 318. I see that someone else has used one before, but would that be ideal or should I go with a carter? Also, when I make the switch from single to double barrel carb, how do I remedy the fact that the kickdown linkages are on different sides between the two carb types? Is there another linkage I need? Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

Super Sixing a slant will wake them up, but just going from a one bbl to a two bbl carb is realistically only about 10 or so hp. So if you are looking for a dramatic improvement, it’s more than the carb.
I am not familiar with the Stromberg carb, but the Holley 2280 and the Carter BBD carbs have the throttle and kick down attaching points on the same side as the Holley 1920 and BBS carbs. I do think that the divorced chokes hook up a bit different between the 2 and 1 bbl carbs.

Yup. I found a place on eBay last year that had the different pieces needed for a/6 vs using the same BBD on a 318 for the choke to hook up right.
There is a posting in the article section telling the difference between a true /6 BBD and a 318 one and I remember a posting elsewhere on the site where someone added a tab to the original 318 linkage to let a /6 choke element to connect as they are supposed to. It wasn't all that much work to do

Hey dad truck, good luck on your project.

I plan on doing the same. My carb seems to be working well enough. I had to replace part of my exhaust and went for high flow from before drivers seat to tail pipe. Sizable boost in performance and nice sound.
When I do the two barrel -- I will let you know when get my relic on the dyno. A better exhaust usually helps with fuel econom. I tuned another cars years ago. The car actually did max mpg claimed. Before partial exhaust upgrade, actually did 3 MPG less than advertised.

My 62 sounds nice without being obnoxious. Those small stock pipes are restrictive. Something to consider when doing mild upgrades. Any boost in fuel economy is a plus.
