It's oil change time now that the roads are salt free. For 18 years now I have been using a Napa 1806 oil filter. This last one seemed to leak down over night causing the low oil light to be slow going out on start-up compared to previous filters. It is my understanding that Napa's filter supplier changed, and perhaps the new line is not constructed the same as the old units. Is there a different recommended filter to prevent the drawn-out low pressure time (~5 seconds) at start up? I aways have used 10W30 oil. |

I have noticed the same thing with the last two that I bought. Two different engines even. |

Does your oil pump have the stand pipe tube? Mine came loose a few year ago and I suspect it was causing a slow oil pressure rise... These are options for filters with a standpipe built into them: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threa ... st-1945352 |

See here. My daily driver gets an oil + filter change once a year, and the "quality" of parts store filters is to the point where I spend the premium price for Fleetguard or Donaldson. |

The oil pump never had a stand pipe as long as I have had the car; 18 years. Dan, is the Fleetguard number FJ-3103 which replaces LF701 the filter you use? |

Naw, it's a completely non-Slant-6 engine. But if I were shopping for a dependably-very-good oil filter for a Slant-6 today, it'd be a Fleetguard LF3487 or Donaldson PS50008 (premium media, no standpipe),or Fleetguard LF551A (no standpipe), or Fleetguard LF701 or Donaldson PS54403 (should have standpipe but I haven't looked). |
