Youtube video: Putting a solid state regulator in a Mopar IVR Yeah, I know there are better circuits for a voltage regulator, but a 7805 is a cheap and workable option, and I have some big plans that don't involve the stock dashboard. And I happened to need a new IVR in a hurry. 7805s are a lot cheaper than a stock replacement, so I pried the case open and bolted a 7805 regulator to the lid, which makes good heat sinking. Then all you have to do is solder the center leg to the housing and wires to the left and right legs. Run the left leg to IGN and the right leg to the 5 volt output, and you've got yourself a plug in replacement for the stock regulator. |
