well i am going to have to go and get the bolts drilled out tomorrow. so for tonight i am threw
so much for being easie. and the whole reason for converting to a super six is to have a 2bbl carb not to have a different exaust manifold

i am starting my super six and im taking off the old intake manifold and it wont come off????and can i use my orignal exaust manifold?? |

Double check that all bolts are loosened. Some smuck may have gooped it up so some persuasion may be necessary. To use the original exhaust manifold defeats the reason for converting to a super six. Super six manifolds are designed to be used with a 2.25 exhaust as opposed to the the one barrels 1.25 also you will encounter a problem of bolting the two manifolds together above the heat riser as the super six uses 3/8 bolts for this and the one barrel a 7/16, so you would have to drill the one barrel to fit the larger bolt size. Choke well and choke linkage is completely different and you will never get a 2 barrel choke to work as you will no longer have the sideways placement. If you do not have the correct supersix manifolds, you need to find some that are a matched set. |

the super six exhaust manifold has the same 1 7/8" outlet as the regular 1 barrel exhaust manifold. Check on both sides of the exhaust manifold you are removing there is a 1/2" nut on either side that must be removad and they cannot be seen due to their lacation. just put the socket on a 6" or longer extention and slide it under the intake right next to the exhaust manifold you have to kind of feel around with the socket. since the bolts are broken on my super six exaust manifold that link it to the exaust pipe can i just leave it un hooked or cant i???????? |

Can you get a hold of the broken bolt? If so you can try to muscle it with a stud remover or good ol' vice grips plus lots of penetrating oil. Mine had snapped flush, but left the job to a machine shop who removed it for 10 bucks. You do not want to leave any bolts undone as this will create undo stress resulting in cracking and warping and it would not seal properly. I have no magic cures for this, always farm this type of problem out...Dave |

Good luck, take your time,it is an upgrade you will like. I did it on my 63 dart cv. Makes the old ugly unrestored beaten down car run great. Seat of the pants difference. And my engine doesn't have as good a cam as yours,not to mention 200,000+ mi. Also I got dutra duals. When I can I would like to put my other super six & duals on my 74 duster. If you can, get a high flow muffler. I used 2 turbo mufflers, sounds DIFFERENT. |

oh right on i want dutras but i dont have the$$$ an i am going to put in a flowmaster 40 s series with 2 1/4 pipes all the way back!!! that should be nice  and i was wondering if super sixes have a noticeably differet sound???

Not really a noticably different sound if using stock mufflers.Remember this was an option on Volare wagons. Oh by the way, I used the kickdown linkage from a Volare and the throttle cable. Bought my carb from pick a part too. |

Can't get much cheaper then a set of 21 inch glasspaks and there are no internal parts to wear or blow out. Even running these on a stock setup produces a healthy sound. |
