I have a '73 Dart, /6 automatic. Haven't had it long and notice there is no 'slip' when at idle and in gear - in other words it keeps trying to go when I have the brake on, to the point of rattling the car. The idle is pretty low. Is that an adjustment or a deeper problem? Tranny seems OK otherwise, although at full bore it will slip a bit when going into drive. Tranny fluid is OK. Thanks! |

Is that the fluid level is OK or the fluid itself is OK? Does the fluid smell burnt at all? It may be the Torque Converter heading South -S/6 |

I was referring to the fluid level. The 18-year old dropout that works at the Quick-Lube says the fluid looks OK. Changing all the fluids is on my list, right after having the brake system flushed. Today I rejetted my 4-bbl Holley and really worked on the choke and fast idle system, and got the idle down lower, doesn't seem to be so bad now. Must have a stall speed of 600 RPM! The car sat awhile before I bought it, and everything seems to work a little better as I put some miles on it. Thanks. |
