Does anyone have picture of the Alternator bracket that mounts the ALternator on the drivers side of the engine, that they could post? Thanks, Rick |

Go to page 5 of my Barracuda photo gallery here> http://number6.homelinux.net:8080/galle ... m14?page=5 There are four shots on that page that show the early 1960 left side alternator mount. When you click on a thumbnail it will enlarge. If you want to see really close detail click on the enlarged photo and it will expand again-better have broadband. |

AREngineering may soon produce those if andy gets the tooling setup soon. on stock cars-The mount attaches to the power steering pad on the block and the arm comes off the #2 waterpump bolt (driver's side)... The generators were mounted like that too on the bigger cars (/6 Seneca's for example). 2 cents -D.Idiot |

I have a setup that I've been playing around with that mounts an alternator low on the driver's side. Biggest question I've had is which alternator to design around. I like the Denso unit from a Toyota 4Runner since it is lightweight, internally regulated and 60 amps. It also has a single v belt drive. Other option is the GM 10SI/12SI family of alternator. They are very common and very affordable and are a great alternator. Only problem is that they are a little heavy for a performance application. But they are cheap. I'm not too interested in making a bracket to hang a Mopar alternator down there. Why go to all that work to put an obsolete design down low on the engine is my thinking. At the moment I'm leaning towards producing the Toyota bracket. I figure that guys who buy my stuff are interested in performance so they might as well step up and run a lightweight Denso unit. Just like the Denso lightweight starter they are most likely running. |

Andy, are you looking to making a Denso bracket that will work with an SFI balancer? Maybe the bracket and some kind of pulley combo that would also use the stock water pump? Cecil |

I built a low mount bracket for my Duster that took a 1-wire GM alternator. I used a $6 Summit chrome bracket and a piece of flat stock. The stock top strap worked without modification, but cutting it off made it look better. |

Which setup do you want? I'll sell you a bracket kit that mounts a Toyota 4Runner alternator low on the driver's side. I don't pictures yet nor is the part available on my website yet, but I do have the first run of prototype brackets finished and installed. Looks like it will work just fine. Only problem I see is that the timing tab needs to be trimmed a bit in order to clear the fan belt. Andy |
