Here are some pic's of my 1976 Dodge Dart Swinger. My parent's bought it in '78 and drove it untill about 5 years ago, when it got parked. That is where I took intrest in it, and have been wrenching on it for the last little bit. It is a stock 225cid, 4spd (OD) car, and is aproaching 225,000 miles. What I've done to it: Removed vinyl top to repair rust on c-pillars. Blacked out and installed a '75 grill. Replaced starter. That's all so far... Couldn't get anything to work, so I'm writing a page to put them in. I'll post the link below. So there's my ride. -zorg |

Hey Zorg, Your car looks like a great project! You can do a lot with just a little money, some imagination and elbow grease. It's cool to have a car that has been in the family so long. Some cool pictures on your page too. Did you take them yourself? Good luck with your project and getting involved. Later, Rob |

Hey Rob. Great project indeed. I've got the interior out now, gotta fix the floor 'cuz it leaks like an a-body... There is a super-six in the works, and maybe some headers, too. Now all I need is a job and a driver's license... Yeah, I took all the pictures on there -thanks! -zorg |

The teenagers in the youthgroup are really enjoying the GodsRods project. We've had some frustrations and set backs, but they're just enjoying getting together and working on something. They've all learned quite a bit. I've got two that are serious die-hards! They would put up cots in my garage and eat, sleep, and drink car stuff. I think I've won several of them over from the dark side of Hondas, etc. One of them is now a die-hard Mopar fan! I love this stuff. ![]() If you've got wet floor boards, I'd definitely check the seals around the windshield wiper arms. They have leaked on most of my Mopars. Schumackers sells a wiper shaft seal kit for pretty cheap. It's a little bit of a job to do though. You might be able to turn your photography hobby into some income of some sort. Good luck and keep us posted. Happy Thanksgiving! We have a lot to be thankful for brother! Rob |

Took it for it's first joyride in too many years today... Lets see, what else have I done? (In no particular order) Super Six, K&N, ballast resistor, battery, set valve lash, some minor rust repair (removed carpet and trunk liner, sanded down what I could, RustBullet primer, a little fiberglass in the trunk, then Herculined the whole thing), that's all I can think of, other than practically building a garage around it. Having a local Mopar friendly shop give it a once over this week, followed by a set of BFgoodrich Radial T/A's (white in or out, your input?), and a windshield. On the last item, anyone know of a source for the little clips that hold the chrome trim on? I'm at a loss for them... Thanks for all the help over the years, one more Mopar on the road again. |

Thats a cool car!! That was my son Brandon's first car too..... We bought it off a used car lot in 2002 for $600, and Brandon drove to poo out of it till he got a newer car to run to college. Use the Shumacher seals.....I will be putting mine in my 67 Barracuda very soon.....save the carpet!! ![]() Kidd |

I suppose it's time for a little update. In the last 3 years, I have... (ok, so all the work was just in the last 11.5 months) Rebuilt the engine: bored .030 over decked block .060 ENGNBLDR valves and 340 springs minor un-shrouding head shaved for 56cc combustion chambers reground cam 280/270 gasket matching was as far as I got on porting things... rotating assembly balanced Hughes double roller timing chain Australian harmonic balancer Brakes: Swapped on factory disks up front new Timken bearings New calipers Raybestos organic pads Swapped rear axle to match the bolt pattern, and gained 10" drums Raybestos shoes there as well Aluminum 2 bolt master cylinder, Mopar adapter Suspension: new 6 leaf springs from ESPO, w/ poly bushings new 1.00 torsion bars from Firm Feel replaced LCA's for pieces with factory sway bar tabs. new 1 1/8" sway bar from Just Suspension Replaced all bushings/ball joints with Moog stuff, including offset UCA bushings C-body tie rods (shocks are KYB's with only a few hundred miles on them) It seems like I did more, but it all runs together after awhile... Oh, Shumacher wiper seals, a fender and door after I went ice skating, and a set of BBP Magnum 500's (with the BFG Radial T/A's reinstalled, white letter out this time) were some of those other things. Now that it is set up to drive so sweet, the power steering offers no road feel, and is over-responsive. As cash permits, that will get swapped for a manual box, the car will get painted, and I'll get a new exhaust put under it. But for right now, all I have is gas money. (So if someone wants to donate a steering box, or some Dutras...) It hasn't had a bath in over a year, so it's a little camera shy right now. |
