| Post subject: | Oil Pan for Truck? |
Is the oil pan for a truck different than the one for a car? I've got a 71 D100. And where's a good place to find an oil pan and how much should I pay? thanks, Joe |

The truck pans should be different as many of them had a deeper sump. A car pan may fit as long as there are no problems with the cross member/steering componets. I have a six quart truck pan and pick tube from a '63 D100 if that helps. |

Thanks, RG, but I've had enough problems with valve covers lately to not what to go near a used oil pan. Appreciate the info, Joe |

Aren't truck/van pans rear sump vs car pans center sump? Be careful about that if your going junkyard hunting. Used pans are fine, you just have to make sure the sealing lip is nice and flat. Flatten it out as much as you can with a hammer before you put it back in and then the gasket/sealer will work lots better. |

I have a car pan on my 71 d100 with no problems whatsoever and the engine that I removed from it had a 6 qt front sump pan ,also no problems. The 61-71 d100's will accept most any pan ,mine clears just fine even with 2 inch lowered springs(remember the 71 had a straight front axle).
