The piece of junk I got from NAPA wore out in no time, so I went to Pep Boys, and the special order part was the same piece of crap that NAPA sells, which is made by perfect circle. I took it home, waited a couple of days, and returned it telling them it didn;t fit. Got my money back. Now, who makes a GOOD idler arm? The IM-Perfect Circle paper weight is not as deep as the mounting tabs on the K member will accept, so it has much smaller bearing surfaces. Not as strong to begin with, and very prone to early wear. Does Moog still make an OEM quality part? If so, where do I get their parts now? How about these specialty places like PST? I don't want to order ANOTHER idler arm that is just dog doo. Is anybody selling a BETTER than OEM replacement? Maybe year one has a good part. Expensive maybe, but if it is good quality, then worth it. Does anybody know? The factory original went 120K miles and still was better than this garbage. The only reason I changed it was because I went with the later style drag link, stearing box, and idler arm. As you can tell, I am sort of steamed about this. Thanks for any help! |

Rockauto.com lists a moog one K7042 for $31. I just put some moog lbj's on my car and they looked good. Ive heard moog is still top notch. Too bad kragen can't get moog or else you can just pricematch it with rockauto and pick it up locally. My local Monument can get moog. |

I think CarQuest still carries MOOG. Look for an independent parts store, Vader. They should still exist around there. I find that "carquest" brand stuff is usually good name stuff rebadged (Wix filters, MOOG...). I have ordered from RockAuto a couple of times and I've been satisfied with parts and service. This is probably the way things will go in the future since local parts stores are getting crappier every year. Lou |

I just bought ALL of the parts from CarQuest for my 65 wagon. I replaced everything I could in the front end with MOOG. I have all of the part numbers If anyone wants. Mike |

I just installed a new idler arm from Car Quest. It says Moog on the box, but doesn;t look exactly OEM. It is better than the perfect circle part. The car handles well again. Since I have also replaced the UCA's, the torsion bars, and the struts with better after market parts, she handles VERY well now. If the idler arm hadn't gone bad, I probably would not have replaced all that stuff. Since the bad idler was almost new, I operated on the assumption that the problem was elswhere. I am not at all sorry I made the upgrades, and in retropect, am now glad the old arm failed, as it led to improvements I would likely have not made otherwise. |

Many replacement parts now come from cheaper Asian sources, the OEM Chrysler parts were excellent. What would it take to "rebuild" an idler arm? Would rebuilding ever be reasonable? Some suspension parts for early A-bodies are difficult to source, for some vehicles suspension parts are often unavailable new at any price or quality. Some suspension components have to be fabricated for older vehicles. |
