I plan to replace the main & rod bearings in my 1980 cast crank engine. What bearings have you guys had success with? Also, I remember an article by DD where the main oil galley is pressurized from both ends. Does anyone have a link to this?

I dont think the mfr of the bearing matters as much as the clearance. Use plastigauge on all bearing points and keep clearances between 1 and 2 thou. Use Lubriplate or STP on the bearings and torque the crank in the mains, you should be able to spin it easily. Check the specs in your manual, assemble it correctly, and perform regular oil changes. And drive gently for the first couple oil changes. Theyll last for years.
