does the 833 o/d have a different shifter in the van set-up versus the d-100 1/2 ton truck?

does the mounting configuration change? ie: flip or turn. it seems to put the bulk of the shifter inside the cab and required torch and bend work to get in appx correct location. the donor van was 78 and the d-100 is a 72. io just have too much motor for the syncro-grind three speed. also, was there a d-100 with 833 o/d at 131" wheelbase for donor driveshaft? the donor van is 110" w/ 1 piece driveshaft, i need first shaft of the 2 piece arrangement.

nope, the mounting doesnt change, i have a truck/van/b-body trans sitting out in the garage along with an A-body, i'll grab some pics for you.

Best advice i can say for a driveshaft, is once you've found one that has the correct input shaft for the A-833-OD then take it to a driveshaft shop and tell them the length you need and tell them to balance it :) its only 110bux or so to do a complete driveshaft job. Also the input shaft for the A-833OD will fit from the "big" series transmissions, 727, 515, and the 4spd A-833OD :)

i reccomend browsing around in Doc's articles on the main page of this site, he has a really nice article on Manual transmissions!

The shifter is the same but the mounting bracket and rods are completly different(I checked part numbers through the local Chrysler dealer).I ran into this problem when I installed the complete drivtrain from a 82 van into my 71 dodge d-100 longbox. The truck mounting plate and rods are no longer available from Chrysler but the b-body stuff is similar enogh to get you by.I ended up using the van stuff and modifying the floor but it kinda puts the shifter in a weird position but i got use to it.the van mounting plate sets the shifter higher up and forward because in the van the shifter actually sets behind the driver and the stick angles forward instead of angling back like the factory truck shifter would.
