| Post subject: | Help on a rear end. |
I found a rear end in a JY today and there is a metal tag on one of the bolts. It's the type with no rear cover, the bolts are on the forward side. The tag has the numbers and letters:WDW-B825A 008 OBD. Looks like an 8.25 rear but what ratio and did they make an 8.25 with the drop out rear? Thanks. BTW the axles are gone and the yoke won't spin. I'm going back tomorrow to look some more. |

I believe you are talking about an 8 3/4" ? Assuming your refering to a mopar rear end, I believe that is the only one that came in our era cars with no rear cover and a removable center section. On the center section, driver side, near the yoke, towards the bottom of the unit, look for a part #. Depending on the year and application, you will find it will end in either 652, 741, 742, 489.... Never heard of those #'s on a tag though. Usually the tag either has the ratio stamped on it, or SureGrip. Perhaps it is a ford unit? |

Yep, I wonder if it's even a chrysler product. But if the yoke doesnt spin, axle shafts are gone, it's probably rusted and the make/ratio is moot, it might make a good emergency brake if you welded a chain to it. 8&3/4" rears arent THAT scarce, yet |

It was on the ground behind an old E body. Might not have been a Chrysler at all. I'll be going back next Monday and I'll look again. |
