Well, today I discovered that it is possible to re-jet a Carter BBD 2-barrel carb with regular Carter or Edelbrock AFB type jets |

Jet size #86 is stock and should run fine , you need to find out why your idle circuit isn't providing the needed amount of fuel. Check all the screws holding the throttle body, airhorn and throttle plate assembly together. While in storage even if bagged the gaskets can shrivel up and cause an air leak at the airhorn seam. Also I've had BBD's with warped throttle bodies cause an intermittent leak too.... It might also be as simple as a bit of varnish in the idle mixture passages if you used the carb previously and let it sit for a year too.... Check your screws, check for other vacuum leaks (any hose leading from the carb....PCV hose hooked up and not cracked? did you check your intake manifold to see if it was warped?). good luck, -D.Idiot |
