I have a '66 BBS apart because of a bad stumble a poor accelerator pump would give. I bought a new kit but when I took the carb apart, it is clean and has what looks like a recent kit installed. I checked float level, it's OK. The only thing I suspect is it's missing a check ball. It only had 1 at the bottom of the pump piston well. The BBD I did a few months back had 2 check balls. The question, and don't take this the wrong way, am I missing a ball? And were does it go if I am? The Haynes manual I have here at home only shows the one I have. Is there another? I have some extra check balls at my shop and I would like to get a refund on the kit if I am not going to need it.

There is a second check ball that drops in a round hole in the top of the main body. It is next to the venturi on the fender side of the carb. There is a rectangular hole close to the venturi and then a round hole outside that where the ball goes. It seems that I had one BBS that had a plug on top of that check ball. The ball was still be in there rattling around though.

Thanks Marc, I have that second ball you describe. I heard it rattling around when taking the carb apart. I just thought there would be another. I'll check my '67 manual I have at my shop tomorrow, I only have a '70 manual here at home and it doesn't have a BBS in it.
