I am planning on doing a 904 to A833 OD swap in my Volare while it is torn apart. Heck, I have 2 of them sitting here. (NO, neither is for sale til my car is done, sorry!) What would be my best bet on retrofitting a hydraulic clutch onto it?? Is Keisler the best deal for the $$$ spent?? Has anyone here found a stock factory type setup that works for something like this?? Yes, I know that it probably won't be a bolt in, that there will probably be mods needed. I had the hydraulic idea in my head from Day 1 when I started this project, originally only considering Keisler's setup. I recently had to do a clutch job on my brother's Wrangler, and got to thinking, with a new clutch, P-plate, pilot bearing, flywheel resurfacing, hyd. T-O bearing/slave combo and a new clutch master, it didn't add up to $500 when that is their price for the hydraulic parts alone, w/o the clutch parts! Any ideas?? I don't want the cheapest nor the priciest just for the sake of spending "x" amount of $$$. I want the best system for whatever I wind up spending. I figured on going hydraulic because 1) the spot on my frame where the bracket for the Z bar would bolt to doesn't exist, it rotted away (have new framerail to replace it) 2) less exhaust clearance issues 3) A stick is too much more fun to drive than an auto ever was, yet some mechanical clutches are getting to be too much on my knees (like our shop tire service truck, an '82 Chevy 1 ton), 4) I like the feel of the clutch on my own Wrangler, 5) its not the same old "cookie cutter" approach that most use, and 6), I have run into trouble locating all of the pieces that I'll need for the factory stock setup. All that I currently have is the pedals. Thanks for the help. |

Keisler is probably reselling the McLeod setup, although maybe they have done mods to it? You can get the complete McLeod kit w/ TOB and MC for about $300 from PAW. This is what I did on my '64 Dart and it works like a charm. Lou |

There was a hydraulic clutch retrofit offered by Chrysler for Slant 6 trucks in the mid 1980s. I have the service bulletin here with all the part numbers. |

| Post subject: | Hey Craig, |
Would it be possible to send me a copy of that service bulletin?? I have heard that this was a little known option those years, and remember a post by either 80 runner or slant sickness (cant remember which) on mid '80's trucks with a hydraulic actuated clutch. My E mail is Donram360@cs.com. Thanks for the help. |

Craig, I'd like to get a copy of that as well if you don't mind. Do you know what years this was optioned. Possibly the parts would still be available. Thanks, Rick e-mail - rcovalt@innernet.net |

Heh heh, I knew you all would like a copy of that bulletin. I'll have to dig it out. If I remember right the hyd clutch was issued to "fix" some kind of problem with the mechanical system the trucks came with. If you did not have that problem, you did not get the hydraulic clutch stuff! |

PLease add me to the list if you find that bulletin! I have the truck and would like to stop stressing the body mount on the drivers side with engine torque. It would make for much smoother engagement under load! :: damxwiz@yahoo.com thanks a million |

You know, I could put this up on my server so I could just give it a web address, then everyone could check it out, save it, bookmark it, etc. -Scott |
