Hey :D

I'm having some issue with my 904. After some warmup, it starts to "rattle-rattle-rattle" between 900 and 2400 rpm. I guess that at higer RPM range the noise is still there but it's hard to hear. I unbolted my access plate and checked if the bolts were tight enough (didn't dropped the tranny to see if the inner bolts were tight) :?

Can this be dued to the torque converter? the tranny doesn't flips, or misshifts, but it gets noisy.

Another question: it is possible to bolt a 904 to a 318? mine has the bellhousing casted along with the body... i guess that if the bolts pattern doesn't match, there's some major surgery required :)

Thanks! ar/6r

A third possibility is that your flexplate is cracked, and I guess it's possible the rattle is coming from something else, but my gut goes with the flexplate being cracked. The inner bolts do not come loose very often.

Im not sure whether a 904 is available for V8s; I think they are, but if yours came off a slant six it wont bolt up to the 318. The bellhousing patterns are different.

my 318 swinger has a 904, so yes it can be bolted to a 318, the 340's and 360's came with 833 in manuals or 727 auto.

Your slant six transmission will not match the bolt pattern on a 318.

904 trans had two different bolt patterns for mopars, slant six, and smallblock. 727 had three polt patterns, slant six, small block, and big block. The A-500, and A-518, only had the small block bolt pattern.
