Got a free Super-six Overdrive four-speed '77 Aspen that runs and drives great. I plan on dropping the engine/tranny into my '68 Valiant. One small question, though, are the F-body and A-body tranny humps are the same or similar? Are the leaf springs the same as an A-body also? http://waywardmusclecars.com/Aspen/Aspen.html |

| Post subject: | transmission hump |
As far as I know, the transmission humps are different. Last year at the Larry Roesch Chrysler/Chicagoland Mopar Conn. Swap meet (this year's edition is this Sun., Feb 8th) I talked to a seller that had repop tranny humps for A,B,E bodies, and I asked him about one for my Volare (F body) and he said that no one that he knew of, made one for that application, and that it is its own animal, none from any other car line would be a direct fit. I did not hit your link to see what your Aspen looks like, but judging by the post above mine about not driving it home, I'm guessing that it's not much. So, if you are gonna part that thing out, I NEED THAT TRANNY HUMP!!!!!PLEASE??? |

That wagon was too cool! I have seen new A-body humps on Moparts in fiberglass and steel. Prices range between $50 and $100. I'm not 100% but I think F-body springs are longer than A-body. They will probably have larger bolt holes in them that the '68 springs too. |

Hmmm.... I'll have to check the springs. The spindles are too tall for the disc brake swap, but maybe I can use the caliper, proportioning valve and adaptors. VolareDon, I need a tranny hump, if you want to trade for an A-body unit, we're both happy! Why not? Bashing around in a worthless car you're going to cut up anyways is fun!! I can't be the only person to do this! On another happy note, the drivetrain from my Valiant is going into a '50 Dodge sedan, and we'll have another Slant Six/three speed on the road!! |

People have successfully used the F-body spindles in A-bodies. A good article about the swap is located at http://www.bigblockdart.com . F-body rear springs mount to the axle differently then the A-body springs, the rear eylette is also setup differently. |

Well, as long as you wore sunglasses so no one'd recognise you gotta love those "wings" over the doors |

That poor car.... who would cut off a car's back then not finish it. You should keep the car, I like the lack of ways to get out of the rain if the weather isn't sunny It looks like that car has a good grille on it, there should be quite a few parts to sell off it |

Unfortunately, the grill is smashed, but there are loads of parts on it. The original Battery Insulator in great shape, a complete AC set-up, four speed pedals, windshield.... http://www.bigblockdart.com/spindles/spindles.htmKick ass!! So I really only need the upper A-arm! Hey VolareDon, this is close to me, and its what I need. Let me know so that I won't bid on it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 2459305820 |

Yup. Go ahead and bid on it, looks like exactly what you'll need for the A body 4 speed swap. Way different than the F body one. He had B body ones, E body ones and A's too but again no F's. Don't remember which one it was but on one of them it had a tag of $120. on it. Also had repop clutch covers (insp. plates) for $110. Ridiculous if you ask me. I had an original one in good shape (just a little dirty) and I let it go for $10 just to dump it since it wouldn't fit my bellhousing. |
