Will aComp Cams 264s work in a 170 and what kind of compression should i shoot for if I dont want to cut the pistons or better yet what kind of compression would work well with this cam and a 170(daily driver).
This cam has .440 lift and 220 degrees duration at .050.Thanks for any suggestions.

I would say, that it should work. It is just a little bit less then my Crane cam. My pistons are at .002 down the hole. Head milled .100, and a shim gasket. I don't remember what my piston to valve clearence was, but it was less then recommended. I went with it anyway, and when I pulled the head, the piston had a very slight mark. But my motor has turned close to 7000 rpm.
My suggestion: Mill the deck to true it only, do not go for the "0" deck. Mill head .090. Do a trial fit with an old shim gasket, and check the clearance. If it is OK, use a shim gasket, for final assembly. If you do not have enough piston to valve clearance use a thicker composition gasket. It is hard to compre two different cams. Even though the specs are close, the lift rate and lobe timing could be very different. The interference does not occur at TDC.
I will offer this. I have an engine on the stand, that I have been using for mock up, and plotting cam curves, and clearences. If you want to send me the cam, I will install it, with a milled head, plot a graph, and send it back. You pay shipping only.

BTW,will you be coming to Bristol this year,Ill be there in my ol blue truck but im gonna practice more this year so maybe I wont be in the redlight club.LOL.

Don't plan on making Bristol. It is about 650 miles from me, and at 6.5 mpg, and at least 12-14 hrs, its a bit much. Every Slant six race this year is over 10 hr drive. Did it for 3 years, but just can't afford it, this year. I lost my job last April, and am building up a repair business at my house. Things are looking better, but if I have the money, that means I am busy enough, that I won't have the time.
I am going to try and make Clay City, but that will probably be the only one, unless we can get one a lot closer to me. I am going to try and see if I can get a Florida race going, but don't hold your breath. I don't have any contacts, so I will be going about this cold.
