Good luck... a /6 is way long. You'll have to cut the firewall if your going to make it rwd or the fenders if your still planning on keeping it fwd... if fwd, what sort of transmission arrangment are you going to use?

I like how dedicated to the /6 you are, but.... that seems like a strange conversion. Couldn't you fit a newer V8 in that car easier(I think most of the new V8 because of their design are shorter than the /6). It seems as though the safety of the vehickle would be compromised. It would be a cool touch to a new vehickle, but it seems like it might be a somewhat puzzling one(sorta like the bouncing Elcamino's I've never understood)

So the "different" like Steve Megante's Chevette with the 500 Cad motor in it? I thought it was pretty awsome.

I saw that Chevette in person a couple of years back - pretty scary, and I'm sure a helluva ride.

Different is good, but a 500 cubic inch Cad motor makes sense because it's an improvement over stock. A 225 /6 is a lovely engine and all but I've heard that it's possible to get the Neon engine just as powerful as a fully modded /6, not to mention I'm really not sure if that swap would pass with the whole emissions thing. If you could fit a 500 Cubic inch Cad motor in a Dodge Neon that would make sense..... except for I'm not sure if it's really be driveable(it would be fun to try  )

Anyway, think of this. Stock Neon engine's will be fuel injected, I believe many are turboed, and they actually fit in the engine compartment. Put a /6 in and in order to be comparable you would have to do a ton of mods, cut the car up to get it to fit, and be pretty smart about how you set up the transmission. As I said, it would be different, but I think it's the different that's probably best left undone unless you like the idea of spending lots of money for little gains.

 get rid of that fake mopar and get a real a body with a /6. you'll have a helluva lot more of fun, you'll be able to get your hands as greasy as you like and you'll be riding a real classic

I'm not against swaps, but I'm against so-called progress! god how I miss the golden muscle cars era!

Now, the Dodge Neon may be crappy, but that doesn't mean it's not fun. It's tiny so it'll be great on acceleration with the right stuff and has a tight turning radius. Only thing is that old cars are much cooler than newer cars, but in general most of them are a lot more fun to drive out of the box then an old muscle car. What I like about muscle cars is their potential, I believe that their's a limit to how much horsepower can go through the front wheels, the rear wheels can have a lot more power. Old cars also are a lot better looking than the Neon's, and will last longer(they've been around for ten years and already many of them are crapping out). Now, even though out of the box a new car is a lot funner to drive, I wouldn't give my thirty year old stocker up for a Farrari(if they gave me one..... I might be a very happy man)

There is not a sadder thing out there than seeing new cars with fiberglass kits and wings that are taller than the car.....

Post subject:  500 Cu in chevette? Cool!

I once saw a 426 in a Ford Pinto and thought that would be awesome to drive. Party on I say! If the slant six in a neon isn't change enough, then jack it up and make it a 4x4 too. Haven't seen one of those yet
