I was out tweaking on my carb a bit and remember it having a problem the idle not going down all the way. I replaced the Spring about a year ago form this exact problem. I believe part of the problem with from the spring for the Accel Pump in the carb. a "bigger' spring isnt a solution, sense the replacment spring is a bit tuffer than the old one. Anyone else have this problem?

It is possible that a ridge has been worn into the throat and the throttle plate is hanging up on it. Disconnect the throttle cable and see if it stops. If it does the problem lies in the gas pedal/cable/linkage assembly. If not, then yes the carb is sticking, the throttle plate is one possibility. The linkages on the side could also be catching, or the fast idle cam could be getting in the way. Hard to tell.

Had the same issue months ago

here's what I've done

removed the carb
disasembled the thr axis, plate and lever
lined a new replacement axis on my lathe (but maybe you can get a replacement one up there... here in argentina I have to fab many parts that I can't get) li'l bit oversized
reamed the thr axis guides
put valvle lapping compound on the axis "bearings" and spinned it slowly with a drill press then installed all the axis-plate-lever again

maybe you don't need to do all this mess

here's what I'll try first: remove the carb then loosen a li'l bit the plate. close 4 or 5 times the throttle and then retighten the plate srews while keeping the thr closed. maybe you can add 1 drop teflon oil on the axis and hopefully it would smoothen out and stop bothering! 8)

Was your carb the Holley 1920?

Also i know its not part of the linkage, I have tested it with out the linkaged hooked up.

I was thinking about using something to Oil it... I have some stuff arround here call telfon paste, I believe its ment to me used insed of telfon tape for pipes, but it doesnt work at all for this  I also considered some Bearing grease, however this seams likly the gas will erod this over time... Any suggestions?

I'd go with a good gun cleaning oil with teflon. I have one can that's pretty much the same can as a regular zippo fluid can, it's withe and has some red and blue stripes. I have it on my shop, I'll chech tomorrow and send you the brand's name.

My carb is a holley 1922, I don't know if you guys have that model op there, since is an argentina made one (lincensed from holley)

but it looks pretty much the same as a 1920

basically is the same carb has larger throat and is jetted to give out as much flow as the carter BBD

good luck!
