Most SL6 blocks use a letter code in front of the ID number to indicate the date the engine was built.
In this example, the "T" indicates a 1962 engine.

In your case, the "T" stands for Truck. the "A" is the year - 1965.

The "22" is the size - 225-cid, and the "9 14" is the month and day it was assembled - September 14 (1964).

The year "T", by the way, is 1963. 1962 was "S".

Bill, the motor in the photo appears to be an aluminum block. Are you sure of your codes? I know the BB Mopar had a T code for trucks, was this used on slant6's also?
Doc, did any trucks get the aluminum block? Or anything other than the A body?

Yes, the "T" code was used on all Chrysler engines. That is one about Chrysler engines, the codes were the same across the board.

However, I missed the aluminum bit. In that case, the "A" stands for aluminum and the "T" stands for 1963. Which would make it a rare engine as they were not produced long into the 1963 model year.

Thanks for the correction on the "T" code being 1963, I was working off of memory....(as they say, the memory is the second thing to go, I don't remember what the first thing is. )

As you noted, that "T" code on an Alm. SL6 makes it one of the last ones built, not many made it into 1963 vehicles.
