hi i was wondering where on my transmission i would find the id number and how would i find out what gears i have in the back. i did not get any of the origional papers when i was givin my car. all i really know is the car is a completley stock 1980 plymouth volare with 225 slant six under the hood and would anyone know if that car comes with a super six ?? i don't really know how i would id that either i have looked it over and found no reference to a "super six"

i'm sure these questions have been covered over and over again, but i have not really found a lot of information to help me so any if anyone can help me i would appreciate your time. thankyou to everyone.

 Post subject: Id' ing an 80 Volare

I am a$$hole deep into a ground up resto on an 80 Volare 2 door right now. Both my project ans my 1st parts car are '80's with slants. Neither had Supers in them, both single barrel slants. ist thing to see whether it came with a Super is a "D" in the5th VIN position, single barrel slants were a "C". From what I have found, seems like Chrysler took the year off in 80 on the 2 bbl carbs on slants. My 80 LeBaron wagon was a 1bbl. From hanging out here a while, most '80 owners have had to add their own Super stuff. '81 and up, alot more slant cars (and trucks) came with Supers again. Your rear is probably about a 2.76 ratio 7-1/4" open rear end. I know, I have 4 of them sitting here collecting dust. The 77 Volare Premier that I stripped for parts, a 318,car was also a 7-1/4 rear equipped car! If you got a wagon it automatically came with a stronger 8-1/4 from what I've seen. I seem to remember a showroom flyer from about 78 that I saw at a swap meet that said that, also. Also if I remember, it also said wagons had Supers as the standard engine, too. Not sure how many years that was true.
