I have a 66 dart with a built 225. It has 10.5:1 with a mild cam and bored out 30 over with other stuff too. It is putting out about 225hp acording to the guy who built the engine for me. I have a some tranny work done like shift kit and 2800rpm stall torque converter. Now what i am trying to find out is a ball park figure for what my quarter mile time would be. If anyone has a good estimate to throw my way it would be appreciated greatly. Thanks Johnny P |

Thanks. Is that what your car runs? I think i am going to run 2.5" exhaust aswell. Is that a good size to run for what my setup sounds like? |

What rear end and gearing does the car have? The starting line at the dragstrip can be slick and a good 60 foot time make for a quick ET. you will need low gearing and traction to run a good ET. DD |

Not really sure what rearend. It has the stock gears that the 66 dart came with. I honestly have no idea what the gearing is. I am thinking about doing a dana 60 rearend later on. Is that something that is worth it and would help me out with my ET? |

the dana 60 is overkill and expensive.If it were mine I'd want an 8.3/4 rearend.If you drive it on the street alot, go with 3.23 or 3.55 ratio.If not, try 3.91. Also a battery in the trunk is good for traction,and takes some weight off of the front. |

Where can i get these 8.75 rearends? Do i have to get them from a junkyard or is there a place that sells them for aftermarket? |

u r looking for a wrecked 67 and up "340" dart ,demon,duster or dart sport. Or one of these years without 340 383 that was equipped w a trailer package.DRUM TO DRUM.just look for round no bolts on backside pumpkin area.cost will be between $150 and $750 depending on condition,brakes,etc...MUCH cheaper than DANA. |

Another good choice is a ford 8 inch rearend these are cheap and should not be hard to find. Know several racers that have used them. The only drawback you are limted to a few gear choices. The width is right and they are strong enuff for a good built slant. Hell a Dana 60 takes 40 horsepower just to turn it over. The 8 3/4 is the way to go if you can find an a body one, But if you find one out of a 340 car it will have small bolt pattern on the drums. Thanks Ron Parker |

I believe that the 73 and newer 340 cars have the large bolt pattern. |

True, but they also don't have 8.75 axles either. |
