If I am running a 904 in a drag car, would I need to hook up the kickdown linkage, or can I wire it all the way back without hurting the tranny? |

It would work that way, but would be a bit of a pain, on the return road and in the pits. Probably would not get out of first gear. Why not think about a manual valve body? |

Or weld-up some linkage or use a Locker cable system. Read thru this article for some ideas: DD http://www.slantsix.org/articles/hyper- ... nkage1.htm |

But my question is, will it hurt the tranny to hold the kick down all the way in an all out drag car. I used an old motorcycle cable to make up a kickdown for my roadster and it works great. With all the line pressure on the tranny with the kickdown all the way back, will it hurt the transmission to run it this way in a drag car? I can make another one out of cable, but this idea was rolling around in my head and I just wondered what would happen? |

As Charlie already noted, the trans will not want to upshift untill the RPMs / speed is high. This can make for a hard "hit" when the shift does happen and it is best if the drive train is under load during a hard shift. If you tie the throttle pressure all the way back, (full pressure) just plan to manually shift the car when it's not running at full throttle. DD |

Thanks Charlie and Doc, this is what I wanted to know. I will probably use it this way until I go to a manual shift body. |
