I finally finished the straight pipe with Monza dual exhaust tips http://store.summitracing.com/partdetai ... D95%2D9905 for my turbo SL6 and took it for a test drive. Nice sound, I love it!

So, there is no muffler at all and the car is not to loud?
Did you go all the way to the rear of the car with the pipe?
What diameter did you use?

Yes, the pipe goes all the way to the rear of the car without a muffler. The pipe is 2 1/4" mandrel-bent. The dual exhaust tips are small 2 1/2" glass pack resonators as described in the link. I used a "muffler substitute pipe", held in place with stainless steel band clamps, so I can put a muffler on during state inspection. I'm pretty confident that it won't attract too much attention the rest of the time. I wish you could hear it!

Bob,

Do you attribute the "not too loud" to the exhaust driving the turbo prior to entering the straight pipe? Do you expect the same pipe on a non-turbo engine to be a greater attention getter? Thanx.

Yes, I would expect the same exhaust on a non-turbo engine to be much too loud. The turbo quiets things down considerably. Even before I put the resonator on it was almost tolerable with the turbo.

Slanted73,
Here's a picture of the dual outlet resonator on the car. http://hometown.aol.com/bbobbias/page2.html
