Not quite. Chrysler built an engine for the Sherman tank that consisted of *five* *flathead-6* engines on a common (geared) crankshaft. Each cylinder bank had its own carburetor. One such W-30 enine is at the WPC Museum in Auburn Hills, MI. There was no multiple-Slant engine in any tank or anything else.

No slants in anything the military used. Tho the original Power Wagons were Army vehicles and the M1 was originally a Chrysler product. General Dynamics only aquired the tank division when Chrysler was working on getting the Government assistance to avoid bankruptcy in the 80's

In my mind, mopar proved the theory that the public does not necessarily want an engine that will plain run forever,or a car for that matter.Don't yell at me ,but it reminds me of nissan , in the sense that they made some very durable vehichles a few years ago,and could not sell them!! Meaning that Americans desire silly features and gagetry that only causes problems and cost money to repair..Some idiots will buy a car for the cupholder accessability!!!Give me a slant six w a rubber lined floor ,and I couldn't be happier!!
