A freind of mine has a '61 Valient 2dr post, and he wants to put a 318/904 in it. How is this accoplished without a different K member? Is hood clearance a problem, how about distributer? Any help is appretiated, thanks.

oh would cutting a 4.5-5 inch hole in the inner fender well be bad? It will be about 4 inches in front of the fire wall for some trick lookin fenderwell headers he built.

Thanks for the link, I didn't see any for a 60-62 A-body tho. I wonder what is different between 62 and 63?

There is no difference in the front suspension between the 62 and the 63 A-Body cars.
the 60 & 61 is different and all the parts are hard to find, there are no V8 mounts for those years.
You should convert the front suspension to the 62 and later set-up ten all the 64-66 A-Body 273 stuff will bolt-in.
The heater box will have to go in order to use the V8 in an early car.

Thanks Doc, We'll look for a '62 and steal the parts outta it. He's going to put a small After market heater under the dash. So we could use the stock mounts outta the '64-'66 will bolt right in instead of useing the Schmaker mounts?

64-66 273 V8 parts are what you need, including the motor mounts, exhaust manifolds, front engine pulleys, brackets etc. Also grab the complete front suspension with the deeper V8 centerlink.

Post subject:  Save the fenderwells!

I am not a fan of cutting holes in the fenderwells to install headers. On something like a '57 Chevy, you have separate frame rails to support your suspension. On a Valiant, the inner fenders are the frame rails. Well, stressed structural components, which is not quite the same thing, but they work about the same way. Things usually don't break, unless you are doing wheelstands or do an especially poor job cutting holes in them. But this will give you a lot more chassis flex.

It already has subframe connectors(with a center crossmember /drive shaft loop)so we were thinking that a hole wouldn't be to detremental to chssis flex. Now I just gotta find a V8 a-body(that can take the goodies out of).
