Post subject:  Just bought a /6 car

Hey guys, i just purchased a '65 plymouth valiant 4dr car. A local shop down in indian trail, NC had one. It's an old /6 drag car. It's got a /6, but it doesn't run he said, but i've got a friend with a /6 too, and between the two, i ought to be able to make a good running one. It's got a 727 trans with a shift kit and all in it, and the rear is a 8 3/4 with a 3.91 gear. The gear isn't the best for gas mileage, so i'm going to switch the 3rd member into my '66 satellite that has a 3.23 gear. The satellite is more of a toy so it should be pretty nice with that gear in it. I'll post some pics when I take them tomorrow. The car belonged to this guys dad who used to race it and won the season with it just like it is. I figure it will be a fun project.

That is Jack Tullock's old car. Some of you older slant racers may remember this car, Jack showed up at Rockingham with it quite few years ago. He quit running the car when he built a camaro about 5 years ago. It original had an EFI slant six running the same electromotive unit that we run.

Good luck with the car Nick. Hope to see it running at a slant race real soon.

yep, that's the car. he actually had a stock slant six in it before the fuel injected one, he won the season with the stock one, then the next season switched to the fuel injected one. I'm goign to try to build it into a nice daily drive, but i'm probably going to leave the graphics and all on it. Pictures will be up tomorrow.

Wow, that is a cool find.
The car looks to be in good shape, it sould not be to hard to get it up and going again.
Keep us posted on your progress.

Yeah, i looked the car over, and it is pretty clean, just a little surface rust in the floor board, but that can be fixed. And then i have to install all the interior, but i have most of those parts, so should be more than a couple days of bolting stuff in.
