I have a 73 8.25 axle housing, would later years axle 96+ fit, with proper bearings and diff? also will a rear spring plate from a 8.75 fit on a 8.25 axle, or do you have to get an 8.25 spring plate...believe both housings are 3".....thanks...Jerry |

Either Mopar Action or Mopar Muscle ran an article recently covering this. They suggested using 96+ axles in place of the earlier ones because the axle where the c clip mounts is thicker. That would indicate that you should be able to swap the diff and axles into another housing as long as the axles and diff have the same splines. I used 8 3/4 spring plates on the 8.25 Dakota axle I put in our Duster. They bolted right up. Rob |
