Hi all,

I don't have a FSM ( I will take my abuse now!), so I need some advise from the folks here. How do I remove the fuel filler tube on early A bodies? I have a 1965 Barracuda. I have unscrewed the flange that mates with the rear quarter panel, and dropped the fuel tank. There is a breather tube near the top that routes along the filler tube, through the cockpit, and then through the floor. I have disconnected it from the top, but I do not have it removed.

Thoughts?

Greg

I have always had to yank the tube as far out as possible, while twisting at the same time. You need to pull it free of the tank first, perhaps, it it still exist cut the gasket to ease removal or if my last one with 10 pounds of RTV holding it in place, some work with a putty knife and some brute force works wonders.

I have the gas tank dropped, and no RTV or any other sealer left. The filler tube goes through the cockpit of the car ( this is a 65, so imagine looking back into the "green house" area), and it is covered with a chrome sleeve back here. The tube goes through the carpeted side of the cargo area back here, and then into the floor, where it meets the gas tank.

There has got to be an easy way to doing this. They put this thing in at factory speeds, so it must have gone in simply.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Greg
