 Sometimes I think my brain just keeps my skull in shape.

My 4 door Dart 270 has a noise coming from the rear at speeds 15 mph and over, yet I've checked everything back there only to get really dirty, sore hands and a pestering , nagging question only one of you gurus' could answer.

Due to the "elephant grunt" of torque coming out of these fascinating little 225's, can the transmission mount disintegrate internally? I had this happen on a racing poweglide (egad, did I say that here?) and it took me four driveshafts, not cheap and about 3 weeks to find.

Any ideas, oh those wise of the penta?!?

My 1975 Valiant had a "noise" in the rear 7-1/4" axle around 20 MPH or more that i could not find. It got gradualy louder over the years. Made the same noise on asphalt, concrete, and gravel roads. Finally realize that the only thing that made it quieter was applying the brakes. That led me to the outer axle bearings, they were pitted like they had water in them. Installed new bearings and I could hear the radio again!
