Hey, I am new to car terminology, and I was wondering what the term "sleeper" means???

Anything that looks a lot slower than it is. If it looks like Grandpa and runs like Junior, you've got a sleeper  .

Here is a plain old 66 Dart Station Wagon:

I had a hopped-up 340 Six Pak, close ratio 4-speed and a 4.10 sure grip 8 3/4 rearend this car. Keeping the exhaust "note" quite was a challenge!

Example: A 1976 Dodge Royal Monaco (huge four door car, looks like a slightly aerodynamic brick) that can quietly (sleepers should never be loud until you stomp the accelerator) roll up to a stop sign and pull the front wheels off the ground at only 3/4 throttle!

Something I'd like to build in the future.... Then again I'm a sick puppy.

Old Royal Monaco, The Blues Brothers just ended on cable... I wouldn't mind finding one of those either.... as long as it is a 2 door!

I had an Oldsmobile station wagon. (not a Mopar... I know.)
Ugly, rust bucket. Family car. Looked heavy.

Had a big block under the hood :D

made a really good sleeper. Surprised many.

yeah... there's been a few fast ones.
my favorite was the 73 4dr dart. white, brown fender and fugly green interior. stroked 273, prepped 999, and a 8.75 chock-full-o 4.11 sure-gripped goodness. a subtle mini-tub, custom spring hangars kept the rearend low and lots of alum. goodies painted black. the fugly green interior even hid the roll cage.
when i could get traction it'd pull the front left up off the ground about 3 or 4 inches.
imagine sitting there and getting your doors blown off by some kid in a dart that looked like a refugee from the junkyard.
*manical laughter ensues*
