I have a 60 Valiant wagon I'm fixing up. The horns must have been pilfered, because I can't find them. Where in the engine compartment would they have gone and what kind of horns were they? (Mine's a V200 model) I also can't find any wiring for them, but the car obviously had a horn since I have a horn ring.

Two - there are four holes drilled in the metal directly above the front wheel wells, two on either side of the hood, right where something like a "gunsight" or turn signal indicator light would have gone (on later models). Since mine is a 60 V200 and I've never seen any kind of trim piece there in any factory photo, could someone fill me what went there?

Thanks!

PS - the more I read on here, the more I find that there isn't a good supply of parts for early Valiants. Who knows where to go for rubber/glass, etc?

On all cars that I've seen(notice the "seen" part), the horns would be around the radiator on either the grill facing side of the metal wall the radiators attached to or close to the wall in the engine compartment. My 73 has the horns under the battery(stock, I moved them). I'm guessing that you don't have a wiring diagram but what you could do is check your wiring harness at the firewall and look for any wires that have been cut, or any holes. Notice the hole(and if your lucky, the color of the wire), track that wiring at the inside of the car with a flashlight and somewhere on your steering column you should find the same color of wire. If that works buy yourself horns and do some re-connecting, shouldn't be too hard. I can't see any reason why anyone would take the horn wiring out though, so also check for any cut wires after the firewall in the engine compartment. I'll take a wild guess and say that most likely the horns would have been on the drivers side, but that's a guess

Oh, and just in case you missed them just look for some random disconnected connectors at the end of the firewall. I find it more likely that the horns died and the people took them out and didn't replace them than take the wiring out for them(though people do some strange things, my water temp sensor was sautered to the wire :? ). If the horns are under the battery you could have easily missed the connectors. Good luck, and if you don't find them you know the middle finger's a rather universal singn

Take out the front turn signals and look in the "cavity" behind them ,Chrysler decided to hide them on the 60 and 61 Valiant.
You can also access the horns through a hole underneath the turnsignal in the lower front pan.Hope this helps.

You should find the horns on a 1960 Valiant in the lower splash shield, just below the parking lamps, and can be reached from underneath the splash shield. (1962 was the easiest year - they were mounted on top of the shock absorber towers.)

The horns use a dark green wire.

The holes on top of the fenders are probably for the optional fender top ornament. It was a spear-like object that lay flush on the fender.

Thanks guys. Found the horns. Wow. Talk about hidden. Especially when everything's covered with the same rust-dust. And thank you for the info on the optional fender-mount spears. That's obviously what was there at one time; now I just need to find two! Anyone has ideas of where to go for them, please let me know.
