I am certin that 300 hp is not a problem from a slant and have it streetable. my set up should be close. 9.5 compression headers 3 inck exaust 550 cfm cliffy shorty 4bbl 500 lift 224@50 duration roller rockers 1.76 intake 1.58 exaust(I think this is correct)mega port job and a few other things

not even close. You can't hit 300hp with a normally aspirated 225cu.in.

EFI + Turbo will get you there.

Post subject:  That's going to be difficult.

Check out the Slant Sickness article from Hot Rod. That engine put about 225 hp to the rear wheels, which may have been close to 300 at the crank - and it used a Hyper-Pak, somewhat aggressive but still streetable cam, headers, some head work, and a 100 hp shot of nitrous oxide. 300 hp naturally aspirated is going to need a redline like a Honda S2000, and piston speeds in excess of those found in Formula One cars. It's possible with forced induction though.

You've got the funds; do you want the challenge? The turbo/efi combos run like stink, but you've got to know what you're doing and be willing to work at it.
Otherwise, your answer is nitrous. Build a solid street combo, don't skimp on the forged pistons, and hit it with the bottle  ! Look at what Charrlie has done with little 170s on the blue stuff!

NOx is cheating :D I don't count that as "normally aspirated" It's a chemical supercharger...

moparman didn't say it had to be NA; he just wanted a 300 hp slant  .
Besides, is it cheating if you don't get caught? :D
Actually, I agree, I think nitrous is a crutch; but if you've ever been hit by a crutch, you don't forget it...

If chemical supercharging is cheating, why isn't mechanical supercharging? Or if a Vortec is cheating, why isn't a turbo? Different strokes for different folks.
Besides, Alcohol is for drinking, not driving. :) :)

to me it doesnt matter what you use sc, nitrous, turbo....none is cheating

If you want to play you've got to pay

If you can spend about 10 thousand dollars get with Tom Drake they got the hp and they do it nice so if money is no problem this is your answer.
Thanks Ron Parker

$10000!!!!! I thought the article in MCG said that the motor itself was pretty much stock! Aside from the turbo and injection what else could you spend $$$$ on???? If they spent $10000 on that motor I want to know where.

my stock 1 bbl dyno'd at 76.5 hp at the rear. I dont think 150 hp@ the rear will be that dificult to develop(about 300@crank). I will let you guys know as soon as its done.
