Does anyone know of a source other than Layson's for rubber for the rear side windows. At approx $10 a foot it is way too much IMO. |

Layson's prices have never been particularly friendly in the 15 years I've watched them, and Layson himself doesn't make too many friends, because he claims to have a lot of stuff nobody else does...then takes your money and you never get your part (if you whine and wheedle and threaten him long enough, sometimes he eventually sends you some of what you ordered). He's right down there with similar scum like Mitchell Motor Parts, another truly evil operation. That said, I am fairly certain that Blue Star Spares in Australia has new 1-piece moulded gaskets for this application -- AND the correct lockstrip material, too. http://www.bluestarspares.com.au . Their catalogue is VERY much worth having even if your car isn't Australian. Cost? I donno. If you find the one-piece gaskets and correct lockstrips, don't bitch about price -- take out your credit card and buy them. You will replace them every what, every 20 years or so? Do it once and do it right, or condemn yourself to endless attempts to solve water leaks and eventually fix the resultant rust damage. |

Thanks for the alternate source. I know the relatively low demand means the prices will be higher. For my particular project I don't really need the lockstrip, so I was hoping to find a source for approx 20 ft lengths. I'm happy to report that after nearly forty years the orignal rubber still seals quite well with no leaks. If I have to I'll bite the bullet, but I'd like to bite a slightly smaller caliber if I can |
