Post subject:  collapsible steering column in an older car

:?: Does anybody have advice on fitting a collapsible steering column to a '66 Valiant? I have searched the internet and come up empty, and worry about the spear pointing at my chest!

Thanks

Hmmm... i guess this is the approach that i'd take:
Retro fit a "newer" column... but that could be quite a PITA

You could have a look see at the rod & custom end of it... i figure if you're gonna hafta boogie something in there, it might as well be slick.

Or take my approach: go race car!

look about 1/2 way down the page.

granted you'll need a u-joint connector for the steering box (not a big deal, they're only 70bux AND you get to eliminate that nasty grease box!) and you'll hafta adapt a steering wheel and turnsignal controls... but... it is safe... and it'll last...

Good luck!
