I put a thermo wrap around the starter. I can't remember the company name but it works fine. I also wrapped my headers. I bought the stuff from jeg's catalog.

Hope that helps yeah.

I have a mini starter with headers. Never had a problem.

Have a powermaster starter (lighter version with no snout) with clifford shorty headers, street driven for over a year with no issues.

A simple curved piece of 16-18 gauge sheet metal bracketed between the starter body and the closest tube helps a lot. Make sure it's at least 1/2" away from the starter, and isn't shaped to "scoop" hot air off the pipes when the car is moving.
