Anyone have a picture of an original fuel filler cap for a late 60s Chrysler product? I just found out mine's a cheap universal one and would like to know what it should look like. |

Round, flat cap with a straight-across bar-type handle, made out of metal, that points to 9:00 and 3:00 when installed. They came several ways: Painted cap/painted handle, painted cap/chrome handle and chrome cap/chrome handle. |

That's what I suspected, I didnt think the black plastic handle was stock until 1971. |

Don't believe a black plastic handle was used in '71, either. Many of the aftermarket caps had a black plastic handle, but the '70s and '80s exposed gas caps on Mopars I've seen have had no such handle. The original-equipment design did vary across models and years -- for awhile in the '70s, the OE cap was a "chrome dome" item with a knurled edge rather than a handle bar -- but I don't think I can recall OE caps with black plastic handles. |
