get the comp cams 262 and a super six header 2.5 exaust 3.55 gears over bore of you want cut the head for 9.0 compression if it is an auto go for a 2500 to 2800 rpm stall might consider a 4bbl also or a proline setup or a dual 1bbl.

The Comp cam 264 isn't going to like the 280 cfm BBD carb...heck even my duster with 3.55's and the 252 cam went 'flat' with the BBD after 65 mph in 'direct'. If his ram came with the A-833OD then he already should have an 8 1/4" with 3.55's unless he got the tow package with 3.91's....

To hit 16's for a 3400 lb A-body you'll need more cam, 4barrel Carb, headers, gasket match and port the head (you don't need to go to O/S valves...yet.), check your rear ratio it may have to step to 3.91's to 4.11 to get the truck to motivate better, if you go more cam and you have an automatic you'll need a stall convertor...

16's shouldn't be hard to get to, but trucks are kind of heavy and have a bigger 'window' to push through the air than say a '70 Charger of the same weight.

How much does your Ram weigh street weight? Transmission option? Current Rear Ratio?

i'm not sure on the gears but do have a pair of auto's for it think i have one 904 and a 727 been told i'd rather go with the 904 i'm looking to just run the 2 bbl and already have my cam i was planning to use heres the specs on my cam duration 244/244 O-lap 28 center line 108 lift .436/.436 it says mild comp 17 sec don't want to over bore it but might have to and would like higher compression ratio maybe taking 0.020 or 0.030 off the head was also going to open up the breather for more air i'm going to try to find out my gear ratio but wont be changing it i'll see if i can find out what i got here and make the best truck i can out of the parts hope i can get mid to low 16's with it but if not it's just a daily driver and i was just looking for more punch to the truck

Usually with an Auto you got 3.23's (3.21's). The BBD will work fine with the '243' spec cam (it's almost close to the stock '70's cam with a bit more lift).

Gasket matching the head would be good, check how much to mill to make sure you get the ratio you want.

The combo should keep your gas mileage and give a slight boost in umph, you might think about researching 'turbo' options to get a bit more 'go' since trucks have loads of room to install tht kind of stuff...

You might PM Bruce Johnson on this board, he has a nice Truck that's already where you're thinking of heading, but he's got the manual tranny, and he's using a 4 barrel....

good luck,
